Mechanical Engineer · 3D Printing · Robotics · Open Source

I build things at the intersection of hardware, 3D printing, and robotics — mostly trying to make expensive industrial tech accessible to people in tier 2/3 India.

Some of what I've shipped has been used by makers globally, and a few projects have won state-level competitions. These days, I'm working toward building automated micro-factories.

10+ Projects shipped · 2 3D Printers running · 60+ People helped through FTP² · 3 State-level awards

🏅 A quick note on recognition — I've been fortunate to have a few projects acknowledged along the way: 1st Prize at SVCE Innovates 2025 (Braille Printer), Runner-Up in the Naan Mudhalvan × Autodesk Fusion 360 Mega Challenge (Hydroponics), Top 20 Student Innovator in Tamil Nadu (presented to the CM), and Instructables Editors' Pick for the Insulin Pump Toy.

🏆 Award-Winning Work

The projects below picked up some recognition along the way — state-level awards, editors' picks, and the occasional handshake with a Chief Minister. More importantly, they taught me most of what I know.

🤖 Autonomous Mobile Robot for Material Handling

Final year project · Built under industry supervision

The problem. Traditional AGVs follow fixed paths, can't dodge obstacles, and need expensive infra changes when factory layouts shift. Indian SME factories need flexible, affordable automation.

What I did. Built a full-scale AMR from scratch for industrial material handling. Designed the chassis in Fusion 360, ran FEA stress analysis on SS304 (safety factor: 44), and calculated motor torque from first principles (0.561 Nm with 3× safety).

For autonomy, I built the entire ROS2 stack: URDF robot description → SLAM with 2D LiDAR → Nav2 path planning (DWB controller) → global/local costmaps for obstacle avoidance. Manually calibrated encoder values, which dramatically improved map quality. The robot successfully navigated to goals with real-time rerouting.

Built under industry supervision from Mr. Gopi Raja (CEO, Tshell Motors) and Dr. S. Ramesh Babu (Professor, SVCE).
